HOW IT ALL STARTED

Journaling is a practice many of us implement to slow down and reflect. Our founder, Andrea, has been practicing this since she was six years old. The Written Collective Co.® was created and inspired by the impact of vulnerability from community in Andrea’s life. Post-college, during her years in NYC, she was inspired by the people she surrounded herself with, the stories they told and the intentional time they spent truly getting to know her and others. Andrea experienced for the first time, in a very deep way, that she was not alone in her thoughts and feelings. Vulnerability is not easy, but the openness Andrea experienced allowed her to begin to outwardly put it into practice, and from it, she was able to receive something that she felt was hard to come by – genuine acceptance.

It takes time, healing and a safe space to be vulnerable. Over the years, Andrea has learned that in order to be vulnerable with others, you must first learn to be vulnerable with yourself. So, she decided to launch a brand that focused on the practice of journaling from a communal aspect. The Written Collective Co.® invites you to search inward and outward to heal, grow, inspire and connect with oneself and others.

WELCOME

I’m so glad you’ve intentionally decided to park your booty in this little space for a moment on the big world wide web. I’m honored you’re here, and I suspect that you are here looking for something deeper within your soul and surroundings. So first, if you haven’t heard this in a while, or have never heard this at all in your life, I want to tell you first and foremost; You matter. Your thoughts matter. Your ideas matter. Your voice matters.

It’s a no-brainer that the last couple years of experiencing a global pandemic and everything that has come with it has done a number on all of us. It’s been a multi-faceted experience for each person, and we can only hope that we come out on the other side of survival.. surviving of course, but also becoming better versions of ourselves. As we still take the time to process, heal and wiggle into whatever our new normal of life looks like now, I invite you to not shy away from the continuation of pausing to take time and intention to reflect and be unafraid to feel. There’s a lot going on right now, so I understand that it’s way easier said than done.

Journaling helps me clear my headspace and define the root of my feelings when my mind begins to spiral. And while it helps me work through the hard stuff, it also helps me cultivate gratefulness and highlight all the good things too. All the victories, revelations, answered prayers and progress in my life become evidence of blessing, growth and hope. Journaling isn’t another digital button to push for the next dopamine hit. The process of journaling invites us into an opportunity to press a pen to paper, stop the scroll and slow the roll we’ve all dangerously adapted to. So, I invite you to join me in your own journey of healing, becoming and celebrating through this process.

I believe we are each created in this world for a reason and a purpose, and that the gifts and talents we have been blessed with are what allows us to grow and multiply goodness for others. I want to partner with you and encourage you to be unafraid to gently look deep within, and dive into cultivating love and acceptance where it is needed. Cloak yourself in the truth that you are valuable, precious and made to be whole, strong and resilient. Gather up those truths, your talents and all the potential for greatness you were born with like you would gather a giant bouquet of wildflowers in an open field, just as they are meant to be gathered- open, wild and free to you.

You are not alone. You are brave. I believe in you, and I am ready to start this journey with you.

Pen and spirit ready,

Andrea
